West Brom predicted starting XI for Barnsley clash

West Bromwich Albion take on Barnsley this evening at the Hawthorns as they look to retain their status at the top of the Championship table.

With three games in the space of a week for Slaven Bilic’s side, he could look to make some changes for tonight’s encounter.

Here we take a look at our predicted starting XI for the clash:

SAM JOHNSTONE

Following his outstanding showing against Middlesbrough, he will undoubtedly start in goal. Has shown real improvements over the last few games.

DARNELL FURLONG

The full back has taken to this West Brom team like a duck to water and slotted in seamlessly. With Kieran Gibbs out injured with a broken toe, Furlong will start once again.

SEMI AJAYI

The centre back has been imperious since his summer move from Rotherham and been rock solid in the heart of defence and should take his place again.

AHMED HEGAZI

Bilic could opt to rest Kyle Bartley with him having played in all of the 11 Championship games so far and with Hegazi needing games to get back to full fitness this could be the ideal game for him to come in.

NATHAN FERGUSON

No surprises here. Been one of the standout performers in the league so far this season. Certain to get another start here.

KYLE EDWARDS

It’s touch and go if Matt Phillips will be fit after being left out against Middlesbrough and Bilic may opt to not risk him. Edwards would bring more balance to the side instead of Krovinovic and allow Pereira to play in the number ten role.

ROMAINE SAWYERS

With the best pass completion rate in the league there is no way Bilic will drop the enigmatic Sawyers here.

JAKE LIVERMORE

Another player who has enjoyed a fine start to the campaign. Offers a real physical presence in midfield and it’s unlikely he will be rested tonight.

GRADY DIANGANA

Following the scare with his Achilles against Cardiff City, Bilic will want to be careful with the West Ham loanee but he is undroppable on current form. Tearing Championship defences to pieces, he has been a standout so far.

MATHEUS PEREIRA

Didn’t get the best out of him against Middlesbrough due to him being moved out to the wing to make way for Krovinovic but there is no doubt that he is one of the best in the division in the number ten role.

HAL ROBSON-KANU

With three games in a week, Bilic could opt to rest Charlie Austin and keep him for Saturday’s game against Charlton. With no Kenneth Zohore still out injured, Robson-Kanu will most likely be called upon and should be full of confidence from scoring the winner against Middlesbrough.
