Semi Ajayi to Leeds United? A closer look at The Rotherham man.

Wow, what a ridiculously mixed week it has been for Leeds United and their fans in the transfer window! From signing their top target and committing to an eight figure sum to losing a huge fan favourite and possibly last seasons top scorer… staggering.

The life of a Leeds fan is never, EVER dull and this week has been no exception. In fact, it has been quite incredible with the erratic nature of events since the turn of July.

Firstly signing Ben White (Brighton), Jack Harrison (Man City), Jack Clarke (following selling the youngster to Spurs for £10m), Liam McCarron (Carlisle United), Rafa Mujica (Barcelona) and Helder Costa (Wolves) all in the space of just a few days, Leeds fans were in a whirlwind daze, excited by their oncoming assault on promotion to the Premier League.

However, fast-forward a couple of days and the supporters are all totally bamboozled… and for good reason.

Reports surfaced on Saturday that fan-favourite and wearer of magic hats, Pontus Jansson, would be sold to Championship rivals Brentford in a seemingly cut price deal at £5.5m… this frustrated many and angered many more, with the reason being released that the player is a bad influence on those around him, causing friction in a changing room that needs togetherness. Following that, it has emerged that reports are rife regarding Kemar Roofe to Glasgow Rangers and Kalvin Phillips to Spurs, both of which are, at this stage, conjecture. So Leeds fans have been brought back down to earth with a huge bang.

Leeds have, however, been linked with Rotherham CB/DCM Semi Ajayi (25) in a move that would provide cover mainly at centre back with Jansson’s departure thought to be confirmed in the next 48 hours.

The former Arsenal man and current Nigeria international is a creative defender with excellent feet and a real eye for a screamer, scoring one vs Leeds last season… so here is a little video that one Leeds fan found and posted yesterday in order to try and brighten spirits…

Some decent stuff, but is it enough to get the fans back on-side, especially as, at this stage, there is no concrete evidence that an approach has been made by Leeds?

Its a tricky time for The Whites, but will it all work out for them or does this last week represent chaos in the trenches?
