Charlton Athletic plan swoop for Plymouth Argyle maestro

Charlton Athletic are planning to swoop for Plymouth Argyle’s Ruben Lameiras according to a report from the Plymouth Herald.

The 24-year-old winger, who can also be used as an advanced midfielder, started his career at Tottenham Hotspur but failed to make the breakthrough there. He would move to Coventry City in 2015 and showed himself to be a very talented player at this level but moved on to Plymouth in 2017. During these two years with the Pilgrims, he has scored 17 goals in 75 appearances.

Unfortunately it was a miserable season for Plymouth as they were relegated from Sky Bet League One this season. And with Lameiras’ contract expiring this summer, it is now likely that he will leave the club following this drop down the leagues. While Plymouth have offered him a new deal, there is plenty of interest which looks likely to lure him away from the Home Park. Both Cardiff City and Swansea City have reportedly expressed an interest in the Portuguese playmaker while there has also been links to Bordeuax in France.

And now Charlton are in the race to sign Lameiras. The Addicks are still in a celebratory mode after winning promotion after beating Sunderland in the League One final but are now working to get the players who can keep them in the Sky Bet Championship. Even though they will be up against tough competition, they are now fighting to sign Lameiras as they believe he could be an exciting addition to their midfield with his ability to change games using his ability on the ball.
