Carlisle United are targeting a move for Kilmarnock defender Kirk Broadfoot.

The Cumbrians are looking to bring in some experience into their back-line this summer and are keen on the 34-year-old, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Braodfoot, who is a Scotland international with four caps to his name, still has a year left on his contract in the Scottish Premiership. He has played 32 games in all competitions for Killie this season, chipping in with one goal.

He is a vastly experienced centre-back and has racked up over 450 games in his career to date in both Scotland and England.

Broadfoot started his career at Hibernian before joining St Mirren in 2002. He became their captain and played 174 times for them.

Rangers snapped him up in 2007 and he spent five years at Ibrox, helping them win the Scottish Premiership title three times and the Scottish Cup once.

He left the Glasgow side amid their financial woes in 2012 and joined Blackpool. Broadfoot spent two seasons playing for the Tangerines in the Championship before switching to Rotherham United in 2014.

The 6ft 3inc defender was a regular starter for the Millers in his first two seasons at the club but fell out of favour so moved back up to Scotland to join Kilmarnock in July 2017 and has been there ever since.

Could Broadfoot now move back down the border and join Carlisle United this summer?
