Town have announced a ticket promotion at the game against Derby County at Portman Road on Wednesday 13th February (KO 7.45pm).

Adult tickets in all areas of the ground will be priced at just £12, senior citizens aged 65-plus and under-23s will be charged £8, and under-19s and under-12s £3.""

“[Owner] Marcus [Evans] was here for the Rotherham game and saw how well the ticket promotion for that match worked and how the atmosphere helped the team,” Lee O’Neill, Town’s general manager football operations, told the club site.

""“[Manager] Paul [Lambert] has spoken to Marcus and myself about trying to get in as many fans as possible into Portman Road.

“Our home games are obviously going to be critical and Paul has been amazed by the support the club has, given the position in the table. We want to maintain that, while obviously protecting the value of a season ticket.”

The Rams’s visit will see former Blues Martyn Waghorn, Jack Marriott and Tom Lawrence back at Portman Road.

Watched them against Soton the other night, they looked good. We will do well to get anything out of this game. Another ticket promotion to fill the ground is an excellent idea.

How about the club recognising the loyalty that us season ticket holders show and offer some form or refund for the difference? Especially if they're going to do this game after game. Why should my loyalty cost me on average £32 per game, when I can pick & choose for £12?

Unfortunately can't see the club refunding any money but you would like to think that those in charge would recognise existing season ticket holders when the prices go out next year. Would certainly be a decent ( and financially beneficial ) thing to do.

Saxonblue74 added 18:18 - Jan 18 I am not a season ticket holder myself this season, I have been in the past. If I currently held a season ticket this promotion would not concern me, on the contrary. My season ticket purchases have been to support my club through thick and thin and also to guarantee my seat in my preferred area. On the odd occasion I was not able to make it I would offer my seat to friends or family for free. Those season ticket holders calling for some form of recompense should consider what tier of football they would like to be watching next season as this promotion is designed to help keep us in the championship. I'm sure everyone would get a discount for league 1 football?! Surely it's worth it to have a ground with an atmosphere?

Value for money is about the entertainment and the atmosphere and a little of potentially over paid ticket prices for me v possibly rengaging with additional 5,000 fans is worthwhile. Let's be honest Rotherham was poor second half but fantastic off the pitch. Both my kids want to go again (they are season ticket holders) this has not been the case in recent years as they don't think a 5 hour round trip has been worth it. The result of Rotherham they want to do a 9 hour trip to Blackburn tomorrow. Get the fans in, even free tickets if it helps us stay up and connects with others for next season. Half the Christmas presents I purchased for family were half price on Boxing Day - it's the way of the world. Well done Town.
