Jeff Stelling isn’t having what he’s hearing from Leeds United’s Connor Roberts

Leeds United are on a role in the Championship, sitting top of the table and hoping to make an instant return to the Premier League.

Destiny is in their hands, and going by their form, who is really going to stop Daniel Farke’s side now?!

For two of their players – Connor Roberts and Dan James – it can get even better because they can help Wales secure their ticket to Euro 2024 if they beat Poland on Tuesday night.

As Leeds fans would have noticed, Connor Roberts is dashing an old-school, 80s-footballer-look moustache, but there is a reason behind it all!

The 28-year-old has claimed that it’s his ‘lucky charm’ because it has coincided with his club and nation’s form, but Jeff Stelling wasn’t having any of it, as he told talkSPORT (25/03/24 at 7:55 am).

The popular presenter made it clear that the ‘secret’ behind this success isn’t ‘the magic tash’, but the fact that he is playing for Leeds and not Rotherham.

Leam Richardson’s side are sitting bottom of the Championship table and they are heading towards an early relegation to League One.

It’s the complete opposite of what’s happening at Elland Road, hence why Jeff Stelling wasn’t seeing the jovial side of Connor Roberts’ best Graeme Souness impression.

“I think the secret thing is that he is playing for Leeds and not Rotherham,” said Stelling.

“Leeds win games, so I don’t think it’s about the magic tash.”

Leeds United and Wales

Leeds fans will be quietly hoping for a Wales win because it means two of their players return with their tails up.

After the international break, the men will be separated from the boys, with the top two places up for grabs – Kalvin Phillips has been told to snub a transfer to his boyhood club if they earn promotion.

Those in Yorkshire know the Championship far too well and how it can swallow you up if you decide to slip.

One thing is for sure, expect goals galore when the Championship action returns because Leeds, Leicester City and Ipswich are just going to go all guns blazing.
